Preparing for Presentations (Posters you might like)

preparing for presentations

Today I gave a 45 minute presentation on how I prepare for presentations. I know, very meta. But if you saw my video on “the first two minutes of your talk” – this just went further in terms of preparation.

If you want to see it, not live but recorded, you can go buy access to the presentation at WP Sessions.

Anyway, today I didn't speak with slides. Instead, I created three posters that I thought I would share with you today.

Clicking on each one will take you to the high res version of it.

The first reminds you that you control exactly how much you prepare for a talk. Don't short change yourself. I spend six weeks on every new talk I give.

PrepareSmallThe second poster focuses on the fact that your material exists for only one purpose – to cause others to act. And to that end, you need to understand your audience so that you can inspire, challenge and encourage them.

HearSmallAnd my last poster focuses on the power of stories – which by now, you know, I'm a huge fan of.

So there you have it, the low-res versions and (on click) the high-res (300 dpi) versions. Print them and hang them on your wall – for free. That way you always remember what's important about presentation preparation.
